What is a Physical Exam?

A physical exam is a comprehensive evaluation of your health, conducted by a primary care physician. This routine check-up helps in early detection of potential health issues, monitoring chronic conditions, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

What to Expect During Your Physical Exam

During your visit we will

Review Your Medical History: We will discuss your personal and family medical history, any medications you are taking, and any symptoms or concerns you may have.

Vital Signs Check: We will measure your blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature to assess your basic health status.

Physical Examination: This includes checking your heart, lungs, abdomen, skin, and other vital areas to detect any abnormalities. We may also perform a neurological exam to assess your reflexes, muscle strength, and balance.

Laboratory Tests: Based on your age, gender, and risk factors, we may recommend blood tests, urinalysis, or other laboratory tests to screen for conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol, and kidney issues.

Preventive Screenings: Depending on your health profile, we may suggest preventive screenings such as mammograms, colonoscopies, or bone density tests.

Vaccinations: We will review your immunization records and administer any necessary vaccines to keep you protected against preventable diseases.

Regular physical exams help you:

Manage Chronic Conditions: Keep chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension under control.

Types of Physical Exams we Offer

School Physicals with QuantiFERON Gold Test and optional immunizations titer testing

We offer school physical exams. Most schools require a quantiFERON TB gold test and our pricing is very nominal. We also offer low cost immunization titers. Typically, insurance does not cover the costs of the titers or the TB test as they are oftenconsidered "Non diagnostic" but a patient  can call and specifically ask the insurance for more details. Insurance companies also typically pay for a general Annual Physical exam. So chances are that a copay/deductible might apply or the entire exam may not be covered. It is always good to contact the insurance company and ask for more details.
